Why is my hair thinning everywhere?

I am literally thinning all over the head, even on the back of the head which is supposed to have hair that doesn't fall out. My sides have also been thinning in the last 5 years. I thought male pattern baldness isn't supposed to affect the sides and the back. No one in my family norwooded prior to the age of 40 and I'm nearly 22 pushing for a norwood 4....
