Why is my tan grey instead of bronze/yellow?

I’m pale naturally. I’ve been trying to get a golden tan but whenever I tan my face just gets a grey undertone. Like a zombie tan? I don’t get bronze or anything I just get the grey undertone so I just look like a darker shade of white if that makes sense.

Fuck am I supposed to do lmao? Am I just fucked
