It's awesome

Way too complicated and not fully understood.

The serotonin hypothesis of depression is misunderstood by the general public and most medical professionals too.
It’s way more complicated than “high or low” serotonin.

There is no simple version. Just don’t buy into the low high serotonin shit.

It’s all the different 5HT receptor densities in the brain that really matters.

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter of hibernation and torpor

exactly. and dont take ssris since they boost the overall serotonin and not invidiual needed recpectors causing stupid shitty effects to your brain. but low or high dont matter, invidiual receptors and hormones need to be balanced

This sums it up pretty well.

Serotonin has an extremely convoluted role in the human body that is still not fully understood. Simply having "high serotonin" or "low serotonin" isn't really indicative of much. Serotonin has purposes in mood regulation, sleep, perception, and things such as digestive functioning and circulatory function.

Psychedelic hallucinogens are serotonergic drugs, and so are most antidepressants. Some anti-vomiting medication is serotoninergic as well. Contrary to popular belief, serotonin is not really a "feel good" chemical like dopamine or endorphins. It seems to hold more of a regulatory function than a reward function when it comes to mood, perception, and thought.

Indeed a very strange chemical.

I was lucky enough to work with hundreds of mice brains after they had been treated with SSRIs.
Very cool project

ssri treatment works. but using it after it stops working fucks your brain. also withdrawal is a pain in the ass

Yes they increase extra cellular 5HT and the body will always seek homeostatis so it downregulate certain 5HT receptor expression. Which is why ssris might work for some, few, but seem more effective for anxiety as 5HT2A is especially important.

Hmmm that seems weird. Are you sure that they did help and you maybe unconsciously made the corrections necessary for your recovery. And you felt worse on them because of side effects? Dunno man

Unfortunately not sustainable. The antidepressant effects begin to disappear after a few weeks of steady use.

Yes well that’s the same deal. With adderal if it is prescribed the doc won’t increase dose every week. If you do that it might work longer but you probably will feel like shit most the time coming down

And methamphetamine is a little gentler on the cardiovascular system than amphetamine.

I had serotonin syndrome from ecstasy once and almost died. But lack of serotonin causes depression. It's not all black and white

Yeah that’s serious. What did you mix it with?

I didn't mix it, it was just laced with shit i think and I took too much. They used to make them with like 70mg of MDMA and nowadays they might put like 300mg of MDMA inside one. You never know what's inside, stay away from that shit. Google PMA and PMMA if you think about taking ecstasy. My friend died at 21 and his family is full of shit saying that it was from a "congenital heart defect" (he was a professional volleyball player lmao, all of them have done cardiovascular tests) and I'm pretty sure he took "ecstasy"

I have researched it thoroughly and use MDMA occasionally.

But I get pure powder. In pills you never know.

It is unusual to get serotonin syndrome from just MDMA. There was likely some other shit in there

Yeah it was laced 100%. The trauma I got from that. MAN. If I ever found the guy who put shit in it idk if I'd be able to control myself. I'd love to try some Brazilian gang execution methods I saw in a couple of vids

Yeah that’s really messed up what some dealers do
