This is the problem with 'just-so' theories, they attempt to create grand theories of everything that often don't stand up to closer scrutiny. Sexual selection is much more significant than you think it is in humans.

That study is nonsense. The selection pressures vary according to the differing ecologies, that the separate races evolved to, thus they'll find different things attractive that maximize fitness in the specific niches they're evolved to.


The data you've linked even shows that all races of women prefer their own kind, thus disproving JBW Theory.

They may prize lighter skin but it can only be down to cultural reasons, not a biological one. As evident with lighter skin being a disadvantage and, thus maladaptive in the majority of those regions.

A light skinned person of their own racial group will be preferred over a European anyway of the week.
