Why is there such a drastic difference in magnitude between the desire to achieve a goal and the willingness to pursue it?

I want some things very badly
But I can't get myself to work on achieving them for 5 minutes

We have little work ethic, I wasn’t raised in a way where my effort directly correlated to results

I was raised where effort was rewarded by not getting beaten up by my parents
Now that I'm older there is no fear of physical punishment so nothing to drive me like there was when I was young

You don't have contact with your feelings, you probably don't actually want it, you just think you do.

Meditate and journal, reduce hemispherical laterisation as much as possible and you when you find a goal you actually want you'll have lots of motivation.

Stimulants are very good for everything else tho, like societally imposed goals such as career and studying

What people want to do is not actually what they want to do, its just that they may desire or lust to do it. The body is a evermoving system, and we inhabit this system. Our consciousness, will, feelings, mind etc. on the other hand may desire to stay stagnant or do otherwise, body wise.

Theres a lot of influences to take note of. The life patterns and legacy's of humans are very limited and can be mathematically predetermined, especially in todays society. Think of the many people who are influencers or musicians and what not. Some may think this is what they want to do, but in reality this is what they are tempted to do. (For example, before social media, the concept of recording yourself and doing such community building online was rarely desired to do. VS now, everyone thinks they want to be a celeb, or social media star. Why?) same can be applied today.

Essentially motivation comes from this lust or dopamine body system. Same reason people consider other influencers who flex their wealth, women, etc, as motivation. Or why people generally see people who are doing better than them as; motivational. Body vs psyche. I guess the hack would be to find healthy sources of this dopamine to keep you motivated! Some people cope with drugs(unhealthy form), some people cope with lust(unhealthy form), and others cope with gratitude(healthy) etc.
