Why is this feature so common among Asians?

Why do Asians,especially Central Asians,tend to have flat maxilla?
I've even seen some North East Indian people who have flat maxillas.
Nowhere in India would you find flat maxilla and monolid so often than in North East Indian regions.
Do Gooks share something in common with Indians too?
