Exercise improves a ton of health markers and claiming anything but extreme training is detrimental to health is one of the most mental things I heard yet..Just don't run a marathon or perfom massive deadlifts, I agree no benefit to that. There has to be an optimal amount of physical activity for health, and I don't know where it is. We know being a pro athlete is not very healthy, it fucks your joints up and you can get weird ahrrythmias (for life) if you run marathons. Being a sedentary fuck is even worse. I have suffered more injuries lying on my couch than logging. I shit you not. I got sciatica from sitting 12h a day once and I fucked up my shoulder from a weird laying on my side position on my couch that I found comfy. I had that pain for years. I don't know about that, our grandfathers here in the Balkans were some real moggers of crazy health and endurance. What they lived through would kill most of us today. I would not say they were unhealthy. I claim nothing definitive when it comes to diet. We did evolve to eat carbs as well as is evidenced by our ability to digest complex carbs due to the enzyme amylase. There is also plenty of archaeological evidence of primitive man eating carbs. I have a story about some holy cortisol spike lmao. I went to work with some builders as a helper. The work was in a monastery on top of a mountain at 1000 m alt. I live at 70 m alt and am not used to that, and at the time I just came out of my inactive LDAR phase and got myself a manual labor job as I usually do when I need money. The bishop is a total lunatic that wanted a kelija (a small room for retreat and prayer) on top of a fucking stone. The path to the stone was rocky and steep. We could not push wheelbarrows up there and bricks and mortar had to be delivered by buckets. Ofc it fell on me and on other young helpers to do that. And so I was carrying buckets of mortar and bricks by hand up a fucking rocky steep mountain pass for 5 to 6 hours, untrained unacclimated to the elevation. At one point I could not do anymore and had to make an excuse to stop. That was maybe 2 pm. My heart rate remained elevated above 100 bpm until midnight and I felt like I am gonna die.
