Marpe has been getting a lot of attention on social media recently and there is a lot of disinfomation about what it actually does.
I just wanted to say that it isnt useful for improving your looks and sometimes it doesnt even fix people their breathing problems.

With this image i wanna show what parts get widened.

The lower jaw does not get widened at all (except for the lower teeth that rotate outward) while the lowest part of the upper jaw gets the most expansion. The rest of the upper jaw gets almost no expansion. The cheekbones could get a little higher and projected but this only happens with big expansions and even then it will be barely noticeable.

A lot of people want to achieve a wider midface with marpe but only the lower part of the upper jaw really gets expanded. This results in a wider upper lip and disproportion because only a small parts of the face gets widened. It can also widen the nasal wall wich is not good for some people. The ipd stays almost the same with no noticible difference.

Marpe only works functionaly if your upper jaw is too narrow but your upper jaw grew forward enough. There are a lot of people that need bimax instead of marpe because their jaw didnt grow forward enough and marpe wont do the job for that.

If you consider getting marpe do it for your airway only and get ct-scans to see if you actually need it and not some other Surgery like bimax. Otherwise you will be wasting your money.

Ik that the mandible isn't really expandable without cutting it in half but after expanding the upper jaw with FME for example i will need to align the lower teeth, does that give any noticeable jaw widening?

The lower teeth naturally bend outward so the upper teeth align but this only works when you dont expand that much of you over expand you would have to get some kind of surgery to widen the lower Arch

Another question, i have a 6 teeth smile (o can see half of the 7 and 8 too) so a narrow palate but i have good cheek bones and a resseced maxilla (not much ig its not enough to give me a nose bump) should i get something that opens the maxilla (and only expands a little bit) so i can use a face mask to give me a more projected maxilla?
Or should i just talk to a doctor right away

If you dont have breathing issues i would not recommend it. And bimax could potentially be worth it.
