I doubt they’re even attracted to him, it’s like being a fan of a celebrity. It doesn’t always mean physical attraction. Might just be status and Hollywood actor popularity

Two explanations:
A. They equate him with his roles. He usually plays the sensitive but emotionally unavailable man, or still a romantic lead. This makes him be perceived as more attractive than he actually would be if he weren't an actor.
B. Virtue-signalling. These women know he's not as attractive as other Hollywood gigachads like Brad Pitt, Henry Cavill etc., so they fake being into him to appear like the type of girl that doesn't care about looks all that much.

It's purely physical attraction. I go to a majority-black school, and let me tell you they fawn over him. I guarantee if he was not attractive as he is, he wouldn't be as loved. Status also plays a role, but to a lesser extent I think.
