I have a theory why people think they look much better (or worse) in the mirror than in pics. Well firstly, it's reliant on ego obviously, but more important than that, it hones in on what you focus on. So if you're narcy, you'll search for that good feature so say it's eye color you'll be like "damn my eyes look insane." If you're low self esteem you might focus on a bad feature like long philtrum and same thing applies. Either way, they're both inaccurate as shit, because as you focus on on a feature you also focus away from your entire face. What this means is, you completely disregard harmony. You never see how your features come together. So when you take that selfie or even mirror selfie you'll be like hey wtf why do I look so "weird."

Do u think it's bc we make eye contact with ourselves that it forces us to do that? I don't remember the last time I had eye contact with someone jfl. Giga autism thread, mirror is how others see you the most accurately, it's legit raw hd real life motion. It's 'flipped' tho but it doesn't matter cause 99% of humans are assymetrical. Pics with a camera are terrible unless with a hugh quality dslr. Look up phone camera comparisons on youtube, different phone brands make your skin look different, not how would it look to others in real life. Iphone gives a notorious highlight and orange tint

Pictures literally distort your face and mirror warps your face. Neither is accurate, but mirror is way more accurate than a smartphone selfie. I think the easiest way to really check how you look like is to 3d scan your skull and entire face and then model it in vr and experience it there. vr is still a bit lacking though.
