The simple reason is that moisturizers lock in moisture in your pores, but not only moisture, they lock in bacteria and sweat too. If you’re acne prone and have trash skin 9 times out of 10 a moisturizer will only make things worse simply for that reason.

The purpose of moisturizers is to lock moisture in, otherwise that moisturizer is useless. If you lock moisture in and you’re acne prone and you sweat a little bit you get acne because of the bacteria that can’t leave the pore. I don’t care how many moisturizers you use. If your skin doesn’t handle moisturizers well it’s better not to use them at all.

Well, obviously you should wash your face atleast twice a day and only apply moisturizer after cleansing the face.

just don’t have bacteria in your skin (by washing your face with cleanser before applying moisturiser) and don’t have sweat (by not wearing moisturiser when exercising lol)

I’ve applied moisturiser with retin a on top for years I never have break outs

I thought you're supposed to clean, then retin a, and only then moisturize, no?
