because mt1 tanning takes way longer- but you are right in saying the moles ect is far less proven with mt1 to mt2

Dose for dose, it's weaker than MT2, so will agonise MC1R relatively less, leading to less melanin change in moles at the same dose. It doesn't mean it's any less likely to make moles darker if you use a dose that is going to yield a comparable tan after x minutes of UV exposure.
