Many people consider Pakistan to part of south Asia which itself is a speculative compartmentalization of Asia.
But neither culturally, historically or geographically is Pakistan part of this landmass.

Historically Pakistan from the earliest periods was part of the Achaemenid empire which changed its trajectory from the rest of south Asia culturally who were under native rule and developed from there.

Culturally Pakistan is closer to Iran and Afghanistan due to Islamic influences and even before Islam was very different from rest of south asia itself which was mostly Vedic.

Geographically Pakistan is isolated by The thar and Kutch deserts (encircled in right) and the Hindu Kush mountain range in the left.
The charhda region served as a diffusion gateway into south Asia (right arrow).
And Khyber served as a diffusion gateway into central Asia. (left arrow)

This is why we should consider it either part of the Iranic world or its own region.
