Why people like gore?

well when i was an edgelord a few years back it was just so interesting seeing people kill themselves or be beheaded tbh. but im not like that anymore

Its a little sad

Everyone has their own reasons (For the DNR buds). Some just enjoy seeing the violence, finding thrill and entertainment over the gushing blood and/or suffering (this can be sexual aswell but not necessarily the case for most). Others find thrill in the "rule breaker" aspect of obtaining and viewing gore videos as this practice is generally a taboo and feels illegal (which ofcourse, many are infact illegal). Some may simply watch due to supporting those who have made the gore as some gore media are uploaded as propaganda for extremist groups. It may also be cope for dealing with violent thoughts, kind of like why many watch porn. It can also be for a mixture of these reasons and many other reasons I havent mentioned.
