So I’ve been doing eye color research and have learned quite a lot and have figured out two main reasons why simply splashing hydroquinone or vitamin c on your eyes simply would do nothing (outside of it probably making you blind)

1. Cornea barrier
The main problem with your iris is that it’s underneath ur corneal barrier which means basically anything that gets on your eyes will never reach your iris. Only about 5% of it will and the rest will just get flushed out in your tear ducts

so basically the problem is that it simply will just never even go near ur iris
And the part that actually makes melanin in your eye is deep in the iris tissue

In theory if we were going to make a eye color brightening system we would need to find a way to make a fat soluble eye drop that can deeply penetrate the cornea

The reason why prostaglandin analogs can darken eye color is because they have really good penetration and can reach the iris and then upregulate melanin production

If we were able to do the inverse of that then we could easily lighten eye color

2. Cellular turnover cycle
Another problem is that even if hypothetically we were able to inhibit the melanin production in your eyes your eyes would still be the same color because the pigment will still last for a long time. Eye pigment breaks down slower than the pigment on your skin

So we would basically either just need to wait or utilize some lasers that break down the pigment

So far the best we can do as of right now is beta blockers which can down regulate some melanin production but since the pathway it down regulates isn’t the only pathway in melanin production it’s very iffy if it will cause significant results for everyone and part of my theory for why the lightening with it is so rare is that in order for your eyes to be lightened by it your eyes would mainly have to be producing melanin utilizing the pathway beta blockers inhibit melanin rather than the other pathways.

But yea if we can make prostaglandin analogs we could easily make eye lighteners it’s just that scientists are hella bluepilled
