Introduction

I’m a darkeyecel, and I’ve been looking for methods to brighten my eyes.
I’ve been searching through BotB, but the only thread about eye color changing is this one by @Alexanderr https://looksmax.org/threads/stroma-eye-color-change-explained-mega-thread.228789/ it’s pretty good with covering the sciences behind eye color, but I’ll also explain the necessary information in this thread.

The main issue I have with that BotB thread is that it only covers options that I can’t afford 🙁
The only option I thought I had was wearing color contacts, but I’ve done some research and there’s another method.

This method could be the holy grail for darkeyecels: PDS - Pigment Dispersion Syndrome
PDS isn’t new, but it’s been cast aside as “not researched” or “high risk, no reward” so there’s no BotB threads on it, and very little information about it on here.
TLDR: New FREE method for lightening eyes (PDS) with very little info about it on org, is talked about in this thread.

Why Are Irises Dark?

Dark Irises are caused by one thing: Melanin
Found in skin, hair, and most importantly: Irises

There are different types, but the most relevant type of melanin to this thread is Eumelanin

Eumelanin:
  • Two types: black eumelanin and brown eumelanin, most people have varying amounts of both
  • Black hair means more black eumelanin, brown hair means more brown eumelanin

  • Blonde hair is caused by no black eumelanin and a small amount of brown eumelanin
  • This explains why blonde hair often comes with blue eyes: low eumelanin

Another type is Pheomelanin, which isn’t as important, but still feels a little relevant and is worth mentioning. Pheomelanin is common in green and hazel eyes. Just another obstacle to get to your blue eyes

Importance of Melanin
Eye color isn’t a direct gene. You don’t just get the “Blue eye gene” or “green eye gene” from your parents. The gene only determines eumelanin and pheomelanin levels. Meaning that if you change the eumelanin or pheomelanin levels you store, your eyes will be lighter.

Brown eyes and black eyes have the potential to be green or blue, no matter what.

The goal of getting brighter irises is to strip the melanin from the Iris pigment epithelium

Iris pigment epithelium
It’s the colored part of the iris. Contains the melanin and chromatophores that make up the eye color.
View attachment 4671392 If you’re concerned about chromatophores affecting eye color, they only very slightly affect the shade depending on how light your environment is. If you stare into the sun, then your bright blue eyes turn to medium blue eyes. Not that important to the thread.

HOLY GRAIL: Pigment Dispersion Syndrome (PDS)

PDS is defined as a condition characterized by the release of melanin granules from the iris pigment epithelium due to friction between the iris and zonular lenticular structures, potentially leading to trabecular dysfunction and increased ocular pressure, which can result in pigmentary glaucoma.

This is what Ehren used to brighten his eyes, and it obviously worked miracles for him.
View attachment 4671391View attachment 4671393

PDS has often been cast aside for being underresearched or too dangerous, but this isn’t actually that true.
PDS is a well-studied syndrome, so obviously its affects are well studied too.

RISK
PDS can cause the anterior hyaloid, which normally adheres firmly to the posterior lens capsule by the hyaloideocapsular ligament of Weiger, can detach following blunt trauma.
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2907041/#:~:text=Abstract,Berger's%20from%20the%20posterior%20chamber.&text=Blunt%20ocular%20trauma%20results%20in,patient%20with%20bilateral%20pigment%20dispersion.

This causes PVD.
Posterior Vitreous Detachment (PVD), involves the vitreous gel separating from its attachments at the front of the eye (posterior lens capsule) and back of the eye (retina). While PVD is common, especially in people over 50, it can lead to serious, vision-threatening complications if the vitreous pulls too hard on the retina.

In most cases (about 85%), PVD happens without causing serious, permanent vision loss, but it creates noticeable, annoying symptoms that often subside after a few months.

Sudden Increase in Floaters: You may see "squiggles," "dots," or a "ring" (known as a Weiss ring) floating in your vision.
Flashes of Light: You might see lightning-like streaks, usually in your peripheral (side) vision, caused by the vitreous tugging on the retina.
https://www.iowaretina.com/common-eye-disorders/pvd/#:~:text=Many people who develop PVD,be visible to the patient.

If you notice either of these symptoms after making use of PDS over a long time, consult a doctor. Now it’s clear that since this is the main side effect, PDS is actually pretty safe.

HOW TO INDUCE PDS

The mechanisms behind the formation of PDS are due to the constant rubbing and friction between pigment iris epithelium and lens structures during pupil movements, which tend to occur in the presence of reverse pupillary block and posterior bowing of the iris
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9741933/#:~:text=Reverse pupillary block can occur,, and PG [44].

So by pressing hard on your iris area and slightly moving your finger around, you can create friction between the PIE and lens structures.

This hasn’t been studied or practiced very well, but Ehren claimed that 5 minutes 2-3 times every day will be enough to efficiently render results. I am going to start PDS, and will document the results and effects

Sungazing is Cope (extra bit)

Sun exposure doesn’t significantly change melanin content, so it won’t cause a noticeable shift in your base eye color.

Do Brown Eyes Get Lighter in the Sun?
Sunlight won’t lighten your brown eyes. You might notice flecks of gold or hazel that seem more prominent in bright light, but this is an illusion. Different lighting conditions can change how your eyes appear, but the actual pigment remains the same.

https://riversideoptometry.vision/can-the-sun-make-your-eyes-lighter/

PLEASE avoid sungazing, dangerous for zero reward, actually hurts progress as UV exposure promotes melanin, it doesn’t strip it.

Closing

This is definitely the best guide I’ve ever made, please lmk any questions or advice. As far as I know, no thread has covered this in BotB. If you think this thread is worthy, please rep and bump

Obviously you could wear contacts, but that’s not permanent and embarrassing to be found out.
For other solutions that are probably less risky, check out the thread linked in the intro paragraph.

Thanks for reading!

ALso, any ideas on what to call PDS? bc the proper way to say it would be "inducing PDS", so should we give it a proper name? Iris pressing? ehren method? lmk

@mohi_100 @Feuerwehr @xzylecrey @LukaKhang @Skitsuna
Im gonna start doing this also. Do you press straight into ur bare iris or do you close your eyes first and press thru ur eyelid? also wdym press hard like how hard, so that it almost hurts?

Eyes must be open. You need to make direct contact with the PIE, press just a little, then kind of try to move it around

It will obviously hurt, but if you can barely open your eyes don’t do it any more. It’s a little easier for me since I’m used to touching my eye for wearing contacts. Hurts a little more to make actual contact tho

It is. Stoma, lazer eye surgery, etc. stripping melanin is a procedure, but it costs a lot.

This is just a different method for the same science that’s already been researched

I went looking and found out some clinics offer laser depigmentation for people with pds to speed up the process when used along side regular procedures. It's not a standard treatment and is only available under specific scenarios.

Maybe a good way to larp into insurance paid surgery.

Yeah but lazer surgery costs money, it was talked abt in the linked BotB thread from the intro. This is just a free alternative. Interesting idea tho, might hold onto this

bro this isn’t even about being low inhib anymore, it’s about not having a nervous system how tf are u gonna touch ur shit i fucking can’t
Yeah it’s easy if you’ve worn contacts, js follow this video (minus the contact lens part)

I have a video of me doing it if you wanna see that

yeah but like the logic is there right but i think the mechanics is the issue, it’s kind of hard to apply the exact same pressure each time u do this and also u could probably pop a blood vessel cause the ones in the surface of the eye are very thin and fragile, but to each there own like i said i want to see the results so i can’t pretend like im not interested to see what happens

Popping a blood vessel in the iris is alright, I’ve had that happen to me before (not from PDS or anything), it’s just a little painless blood in the eye, cleans after a week or two

Iris pressing? ehren method? lmk

I was actually black pilling internally on your method as pure T30 cope. This is because if you look at PSD progression afaik they get lighter but are still dark and look like crap.

Futhermore afaiknew, while laser pigmentation exist Stroma produces dog shit aesthetic results. IE a grey eye with lots of left over brown. Nothing about that looks good or natural, its mostly cope and people would be better off never having done it.

1771540577069

I've been following stroma for 1-2 years now. There also seems to be very limited number of picture of actual results instead its mostly just photoshop larping before and after of people who haven't had the procedure done.

However after looking more into what you mentioned about lasers for PDS specifically I came across Lumineyes® XTRA. Some of there results are shit, some of them are good. But theres a good number of pictures and at least some people are getting decent results. Unfortunately it seems limited to turkey by the person who came up with it. And they have somewhat sketchy website. I would want a fuck ton more info on this before I trust it(I have blue eyes anyways, kek), but it gives your methodology some basis at least. Since normal PDS progression alone left it somewhat in question.

Looks interesting, I’ll look into this on my follow up thread.

Def don’t think IPE Pressing (that’s what I’m naming purposefully induced PDS) will have this dramatic results, but more than natural PDS.

Thanks for this

Apply light pressure to the IRIS, then shift it around very slightly.

The friction is what removes the melanin
