why stupidity correlates with good looks

You probably mean the other way around - good looks correlate with stupidity. It all starts early in school, good looking kids have an easier life, the teachers are more forgiving to them, they don't have to put much effort, learn everything or do their homework, so their intellect doesn't develop as much, but for the ugly kids is the other way around - every little mistake is penalized, the teachers are harsh and yell at them, they have to learn and put all the effort;
In the end it doesn't really matter - most of the stuff learned in school is pretty much useless in the every day adult life, the good looking kids spent most of their time in school socializing, while the ugly ones studied but their social skills are poorer....
