1.Women in Sydney are extremely passive in dating – They don’t initiate, expect all effort from men, and many use dating apps for validation rather than actual dating.
2. Friend groups are locked – Most people stick to their high school/university/work friends and aren’t open to newcomers.
3. Social interactions feel transactional – Networking and friendships often feel like business exchanges rather than genuine connections.
4. People are anti-social in public – Random conversations are seen as weird, and unlike places like Europe or Latin America, there’s no strong culture of casual socializing.
5. It’s a clout-driven city – Sydney is full of people obsessed with status, looks, and money, making it a nightmare for the average guy just trying to meet normal people.
6. Lack of organic meeting opportunities – In cities like Berlin, Barcelona, or even New York, people meet naturally in parks, bars, and casual social spaces. In Sydney, everything feels forced or pre-arranged.
The city’s passive, cliquey, and isolating culture makes it one of the worst places to build a social life from scratch, especially for men who aren’t already plugged into a network. A lot of guys feel the same way but are gaslit into thinking it’s just them.
