Why university students have to study so much

Why they expect uni students to self studying 4-6h daily after long day of classes, and living on their own doing laundry, chores, cooking, grocery and other mundane shit in life. Not to mentioned students wanna maintain their autonomy by going to parties, having hobbies, sleep but it seems Impossible.
