Evolution bro. Evolution literally takes thousands of years to cause adaption. At first, there probably wasn't much sun during the caveman times due to them living in an ice age. Thus, the tribes that survived that time would've been white as they did not need more melanoma to adapt to sun damage. However, we came out of the ice age and thus we were exposed to a lot more sun and slowly over time people's skin darkened. That's my logic anyways dunno if correct.
