It's because westerners lack the ability to see nuance and subtlety. What I have noticed is that westerners typically publically display a constant personality across all social situations. Asians often operate with multiple personalities and create deliberate facades of nonchalance behind facades of feigned emotion to hide their true intentions. My theory is that average high iq of asian people and the very complex society of asia requires a level of social interaction that is more complex than in the west.
