Why would God make humans imperfect and then punish them for being imperfect

dk about christians but for jews it's something called pikuach nefesh and it basically says that if you're dealing with something in this life it's a unfinished result to something that happened in your previous life, so maybe last life we were chads bullying subhumans

If you were perfect, there would be no reason to test you. That’s why free will is placed in the middle, you choose whether to lean toward good or bad. This is actually the fairest way to make you earn paradise, you hold the responsibility of your actions. This is from an Islamic perspective.
