This could be a separate post, but basically, neoliberalism is about growing shareholders’ assets as much as possible. The more people in a country, the more demand there is for housing, services, and businesses, which they then bundle up and put on the stock market. The problem is that the demands of neoliberalism are in opposition to the European quality of life.

Immigration before then was mainly people moving from one EU country to another. Also, the third-worlders we did get were more secular and educated. However, they absolutely did commit crime—for example, Moroccans in the Netherlands.

Basically, somewhere like Syria, which was socialist, invested in hospitals and agriculture, which increased the population.

It grew from 3 million in 1945 to 21 million in 2010, the year before the Arab Spring

These strongman regimes only work to the extent that you can keep everyone happy before it implodes all across the africa/muslim world you the same combination of factors that you had in a Syria fuse waiting to be lit so these leaders want these people go so they can have a more stable society
