Why YOU Need to be in a Surplus as a Teen, GTFIH (A WATER THREAD FOR DAYCARE ORG USERS)

This is pretty obvious knowledge but some of the people on here that turn this place into a daycare need to listen up.

As a teenager, you are in a vital position for growth, via height, and especially bone mass, here's why scientifically:

Your bones grow from growth plates, and are grown through GH (Growth Hormone). Whilst in a calorie deficit, especially as a teen, your GH reduces, resulting in reduction of bone growth all throughout, including limb lengthening and facial bone mass

Just look at people like Tristyn Lee, He has two older brothers that are 5'7 and 5'9, both also bodybuilders.
Tristyn spent his teenage years on a retarded carnivorous diet and always being shredded in which resulted in him barely pushing 160 CM
Just look at the picture of him, he looks like a child despite his muscle mass.

Take a look at his fucking frame too, it looks like he has a 12 inch bidelt, even the dude beside him is a similar height and has a a much larger bidelt.
Now obviously, a lot of this can be influenced by genetics

It was pretty obvious he was constantly in a chronic calorie deficit before the age of 18, staying around 8% bodyfat at all times, His growth hormone being severely repressed, alongside him being constantly lean raises his cortisol by a shit ton, damaging his growth plates aswell.

When you are shredded, your body will not focus on key factors such as height and bone growth, but rather spending all your energy just to maintain your skeleton looking body.

With all above taken into consideration, alongside his families average height, Tristyn Lee's height is well below average, with other family members being considered average.

Not just by height, his frame and FACE is subpar, with zero bone structure or frame, just because of him being in a constant deficit his entire life.

Now, this does not mean im asking you to be a fat fuck, im telling you to be smart with it. Most of you guys are in highschool or just about to be in highschool, this is the prime in your life to be looking good, as it is a social highlight of your entire life and you do NOT want to spend that time being a fat fuck just because you can look better in the long run.

I STRONGLY recommend a lean bulk, or at least slightly above maintenance calories. Optimal bodyfat % during your teen years and puberty to maximize growth before hindering it is 12-18%, now you should atleast aim for 14% minimum if you dont want to look more on the chubbier side. Dipping below 10-11% dips your testosterone, GH, shortens and or delays puberty. Especially within this range you are subject to the most muscle growth aswell without sacrificing your peak height.

I know most of you wont dip to that bodyfat %, but this is also about trying to cut a shit ton of weight as a teen, even when you are likely to have just about zero muscle mass, heres some basic shit that you would expect trying to cut weight as a teen.

Even if you are aiming for a healthy bodyfat% if your already near there, its not about the bodyfat, its how you get to that bodyfat %.
When you are in a caloric deficit your energy goes to just maintaing survival, allowing for NO bone growth what-so-ever. You are risking your hormones, including leptin, testosterone, IGF-1, and thyroid. A short deficit will most likely not do too much, but just know there are better ways, such as a body recomposition and other such.

TLDR: Don't go in a major caloric deficit in teen years, Don't cut if you have low muscle mass, Stay between 12-18% bodyfat, Stay in a slight caloric surplus, Don't be a fatass.
