When it comes to staying hydrated, most people know that drinking water is essential. But not all water is created equal. While it's true that water is necessary for our bodies to function properly, it's also important to make sure we're drinking water that is rich in minerals like magnesium. Drinking plain water without minerals can actually lead to mineral loss through urination. This is because our bodies need minerals to properly balance and utilize the water we consume. When we drink water without minerals, our bodies may excrete it in order to maintain the correct mineral balance.

Magnesium is an essential mineral that plays a crucial role in many bodily functions, including muscle and nerve function, blood sugar control, and blood pressure regulation. Unfortunately, many people are deficient in magnesium, which can lead to a variety of health problems. Drinking water that is rich in magnesium can help to ensure that we're getting enough of this vital mineral in our diets. One way to ensure that you are getting magnesium-rich water is by drinking water from natural springs or wells or buy high quality mineral water in glass bottles. These sources of water often contain higher levels of minerals like magnesium, as well as other essential minerals like calcium and potassium.

It's also important to be mindful of how much water you're drinking. While it's essential to stay hydrated, drinking too much water can also be problematic. Consuming excessive amounts of water can lead to a condition called hyponatremia, which occurs when the level of sodium in your blood becomes too low. This can be dangerous, as it can lead to symptoms like confusion, seizures, and even coma. Additionally, drinking too much water can also flush out essential minerals like magnesium, which can lead to mineral deficiencies.

To avoid these risks, it's important to listen to your body and drink water as needed. If you're feeling thirsty, have a glass of water. If you're not thirsty, there's no need to force yourself to drink water. Additionally, if you're engaging in activities that make you sweat a lot, such as exercising or working in a hot environment, you'll need to drink more water to stay hydrated.

How much do I drink? around 2l high quality water per day. Office job, 3x exercise per week. Carnivore/ray peat diet.

TLDR: Drink mineral rich water (ideally bought in glass bottles), listen to your body (drink when you are thirsty, dont force yourself if you are not).
