Why you shouldn't rely on .org for research:
Introduction:
First of all i would like to mention: .ORG is a great community to discuss & share ideas, but honestly? why would you rely on it?
it has some value yeah, but there is more bullshit than you could think of.
First of all, most of the userbase consists of greycels & people who don't do their own research.
also let's have a look at the "Looksmaxxing" section:
Did you notice something specific about these threads? Yeah almost all of them were made by greycels.
finding a good thread among these is like searching for a needle in a haystack.
"But menas!! but what about BOTB?":
Botb has always been seen as a holy place througout the history of .org, but i do NOT agree with it, hence:
you all probably know about the "The Realitypill" thread i made, like a month ago i've asked for it's removal from BOTB since my opinions have changed on various topics. but you know what? the admins rejected it, they said they wouldn't remove it.
aside of that there are a few great threads in BOTB, like the threads of @chadisbeingmade, @Jonasㅤㅤ @Zagro .
But you know what? most of them are WATER yeah you heard me, as much as the threads contain valuable information, most of them have already been discussed before, hence my take, you should not rely on Looksmax.org for RESEARCH.
also most of the older threads are total garbage.
(there are some valuable ones tho)
My final take:
my take is that, you shouldn't rely on this site for research, you should only use it to discuss the research
you made with other users and as a community, + never trust someone blindly as misinformation spreads faster than you think.
ALWAYS DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.
"How can i research effectively?":
i will list some effective tools for you to make your own research:
PUBMED:
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/
this site is kind of water but contains great information in it.
PERPLEXITY AI:
https://www.perplexity.ai/
as much as you shouldn't rely on artificial intelligence,
this model is great to gather information since it was specifically made for research.
THE LENS:
https://www.lens.org/
A large aggregator that includes data from PubMed, Crossref, OpenAlex, patent offices, and others,
making it a comprehensive research tool beyond PubMed's scope.
GOOGLE SCHOLAR:
https://scholar.google.com/
it includes a broad range of scientific and medical literature, offers citation tracking, and can locate grey literature and free full-text papers.
Studies suggest it retrieves more relevant articles than PubMed in some clinical contexts.
TL;DR:
DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!!
