Probably because looking at the nose your eyes travel vertically and less horizontally, making the midface seem longer aswell as the nose occupying less physical room on the face from a front profile standpoint. Don’t think it looks better though.

Probably because looking at the nose your eyes travel vertically and less horizontally, making the midface seem longer aswell as the nose occupying less physical room on the face from a front profile standpoint. Don’t think it looks better though.

although both rectangles are basically the same size (i drew with touchpad), the rightmost rectangle looks much longer

with the nose being the center of the midface, its perceived length affects the midface's percieved length substantially

i made a mistake:

its not the midface ratio its the face width to height ratio (fwhr) that's correlated with testosterone

adrien brody has a long midface AND a narrow face; his fwhr is too low

brad pitt not only has a compact midface, he has wide face to go with it

fwhr is one of the most important ratios

midface ratio is midface (eyebrow to alar base) : ipd (distance between pupils)
