At the very least not with a lefort 1. Lefort 1 with impaction can reduce gingival show when smiling at best. Main differences from a lefort 1 from the front will be seen in the philtrum. This is true even for downgrafting as well. The midface is hard to shorten or lengthen. Face length is quite genetic and changing the underlying bone structure doesnt guarantee changes in soft tissue especially if you’re going to decrease bone mass as your facial muscles, fascia, skin have developed for a face of that length. Altering some other ratios may be your best bet. Appearance of a long face can be caused by narrow ipd, long lower third and/or high hairline etc

How much impaction can be done depends on how much gum you are showing while smiling. But CCW rotation and advancement (I assume this is what you need) can give you the illusion of a shorter midface and make your proportions look a lot better without actually shortening the face much.

Yes, it can. I am planning on having jaw surgery in a year or two for the same reason.

When they remove height from your maxilla through impaction, they have to consider how high your upper lip will sit relative to your teeth after surgery. So if your smile isn't gummy to start with, they can't shorten the maxilla as much, if at all.

They could still do a rotation but it would need to come from bringing the back of the maxilla down instead of removing bone and bringing the front up
