Will braces fuck me up

I’m 15 and my parents are making me either get braces or extract teeth to close my open bite. My open by isn’t even that bad and I’m cool with living with it because I think my face looks fine even with it. If extracting molars/wisdom teeth or getting braces fuck me up will a pallet expander fix the damage. Is it guaranteed that it will fuck me up, or is it just some people?
