wont be able to get a palate expander as im 16 and orthodontist shut me down when I asked about it said i didnt need one, Wondered if I wasnt given one as when braces straighten my teeth my palate may widen slightly, from a front angle i can see 6-7 teeth which I was told meant i had a slightly narrow palate so hoping that my braces my help out.

Braces won't expand your palate, and if your orthodontist said you don't need it, It's because you don't have a functionally narrow maxilla, expanding beyond that point will just fuck your looks instead of helping.

So yeah, braces will not expand your palate by 16 the palate fissure has already fused, but what you were describing "seeing only 6-7" is likely an issue with your buccal corridor, which braces can fix.

The buccal corridor is basically the empty/black spaces on the side of your smile, it can be reduced with braces or Invisalign, although this expansion is limited, it can have results like the ones shown above, the wider a smile is and the less buccal corridor exposure, the more attractive it is. SO IF THIS WAS THE PROBLEM YOU WERE DESCRIBING, then yes, it can help.

trying compare mine was a bit diff cos ive got a bit of an underbite but yh i would say its something similar to that when comparing with my molars on my bottom row, which ig the two rows should be equal after braces so ig i can hope

Well, if you have an underbite that should be fixed. If you're under certain age, orthodontic devices can actually correct slight underbites, but if it's more severe then you need surgery.

I wouldn't bother with Invisalign or braces to fix your buccal corridors for now, it's more of an aesthetic fix, not something functional. So fix the functional issue first (underbite) and then worry about how your teeth will look.

nah its not some crazy one that would require surgery but noticeable if i smile with my teeth as my top row sits just a bit behind my bottom row, originally when my braces were put on i was given these bite blocks which were just glue on my top molars which temporarily slightly corrected it but I don't think it was meant to be a permanent solution it was just to stop me biting my braces and breaking them. I haven't yet asked if they plan to do anything during braces for my underbite, maybe some rubber bands will go on later down the line or smth idk

Yes, I'd advise you inquire about this. If you're of a certain age and since the underbite is not severe, rubber bands can be used to fix it.

Maybe even a face mask

Oh sorry wrong image, I meant to show you a reverse pull headgear

it's this thing, basically it attaches to your braces and uses elastic bands to pull your maxilla forward. Actually praying for you that you get it, it looks RIDICULOUS, but you know what looks even worse? An underbite, this is your only shot at correcting it without surgery, after you get past a certain age you're done for when it comes to non-surgical options, I'd 100% accept the few months of bullying if it means not having an underbite.

braces narrow ur maxilla
not always lol it can push some teeth out if they’re behind where they’re supposed to be making it wider or longer

Yh ig but ive read that fixing the underbiet is gonna come within the end of braces treatment and by that time ill prob be adleast 18 anyway, and my underbite is only minor. I also saw a video saying that these methods were mostly getting retired nowadays which is why i doubt ill get one because I have never seen this thing in the UK before, only in like American sitcoms and shows that kinda thing, mostly in the UK for people with slight over and underbites ive seen these rubber bands get used even on adults

So most likely within the last 6 or 9 months or so Ill get some of these to use

It depends on your orthodontist and how they apply the braces. You can actually ask them to widen your palate a bit during treatment. I asked mine, and he agreed, i got got around 6mm of expansion, which isn’t huge but still noticeable (despite the fact i still have them) Braces aren’t specifically made for palate expansion, but they can help widen the arch to some extent depending on how they’re used.
