Will braces recess me and stop mewing progress?

I am 16, i am already recessed, i have braces for around a year and will have them for around two more years. I did not have any extractions. I know that their plan is to also fix my overbite with rubber bands so like there will be rubber bands connecting upper and lower teeth later on, that will probably improve my chin projection but won't it also recess my maxilla even more?

Btw, when I asked about palatal expansion for some reason they said that my palate is already wide (they measured some bs 53mm which is absolutely not true and bs) and that if it was widened there would be gaps between the teeth.

And since I had bad habits when i was younger which led to recessed face, if i mew and correct tongue posture etc, wont the braces stop the progress i could get with it? since it like locks the teeth in place.
