will ELASTICS HELP my SITUATION?

i’m desperate for answers on this as i haven’t been able to get a clear cut answer.

i’m 15 and i’ve been wearing braces for abt a yr. soon im gonna get elastics or wtv.

my issue is when i bite down on my molars (back teeth) my face gets like sunken in and makes me look recessed af. so i always let my bottom and top front teeth rest on eachother so i look normal and not recessed whenever im out makes my lip projection better and jaw more forward looking.

im wondering if the elastics will solve my sunken face issue whenever im biting down on my back teeth. or will it just fuck me over even more.

one thing i remember my ortho saying is helping with lip projection or something but i wasn’t listening to much cz im retarded i wish i paid attention.

Recessed mandible?
Also the elastics will slightly recess your maxilla or not, for me it didn't luckily (my maxilla still shit either way)

when i’m not biting down on my molars (back teeth) and just my bottom and top teeth in the front my mandible isn’t recessed and looks good. however when i do bite on my molars it’s not even nessacarily recession it’s just my jaw has to move slightly back in order for the top and bottom of my molars to be able to bite down on eachother. which gives my face that sunken look. i’m getting hope that since elastics are meant for changing alignment that it will fix it properly getting rid of that reccessed look when biting down on my molars. sorry for yap js need to get everything straight.

you think i should do that instead of elastics? like how do i even tell that to him without looking like a autist who dosent know what there talking about. and will it show effective growth at 15, how long do they take aswell? also does insurance cover it

I read a pubmed article and there was I think 1-2mm of growth in the mandible with the herbst appliance
