Will getting braces negatively affect my skull shape?

im considering getting braces cuz my lower front teeth have small gaps in between them and it looks weird when i talk or smile. how will this affect my skull shape?

I was worried about it too but after 2 years of wearing them nothing in my face changed.

Wrong kind of orthodontist can stunt your growth. I’m not an expert but there was a study on twins. One had regular ortho and one had alternative ortho. The one with regular ortho looked recessed afterwards and the one with alternative ortho became perfectly forward grown.

Im not sure why but I guess conventional ortho forces your jaw to become smaller while the alternative tried to expand it.

I would make sure that you don’t get ortho that limits your growth although I’m not sure braces woth 16 would have any effect.

Growth usually happens as a child and not as teenager but yeah I would still be cautious and express those concerns. Even then I don’t trust orthos. They are all bluepilled af. If you looked like Meeks before treatment with slightly off teeth and like a gollum afterwards but with perfect teeth they will see it as perfect result. Orthos are blind for beauty


That said in America most orthos seem to do a good job. Nearly everyone there who looks good had braces in their childhood
