Will orthodontics fucking ruin me?

im 18 years old and ive considered getting braces to fix my overbite.Its something ive been insecure about awhile now and I thought it might better my recessed chin(make it look less recessed).Ive heard mixed results with braces, some people claiming it deformed them(teeth pulled for space) and some saying it asended them.Thoughts?

i have a recessed chin and had a pretty narrow jaw, my ortho gave me a MARPE for my jaw and for my overbite im pretty sure after my palate expansion is over, im getting self ligating braces (damon braces) and bite blocks (to help my overbite and CCW rotation), i have a post on my palate expansion so far if yw check
