it can, and it generally does
what's your reason for removing them?

Removing wisdom teeth CAN/WILL cause bone resorption unless you get implants asap. Maxilla might sink into your skull without proper bone support. Wisdom teeth are a lot like a foundation
W response bro ^^ shit is good to know.

The reason seems to be- that i need them removed- ‘bc the ortho says to’. I brought up with my parents the idea that the surgery could not be a good thing. Their response was that the ortho wouldn’t have any motivation to recommend the surgery unnecessarily, because they’re referring me to a clinic (or whatever you call a place where wisdom teeth are surgically extracted.)

You’d have to be genuinely retarded to believe removing wisdom teeth collapses your facial bone structure.

Jaw surgeons literally remove them during surgery. If that caused noticeable bone resorption to the point that it sunk your fucking face in and caused facial aesthetic changes, it would be quite literally the opposite of what they are trying to accomplish.

Stop listening to garbage pseudoscience.

It wont do anything, maybe give you more hollow cheeks. Not any bone loss or anything
Couldn’t read the sarcasm 😂

You think getting my wisdom teeth removed won’t cause chin recession.
But instead will to little to nothing, expect possibly hollow my cheeks? Idk

I need to contact ortho, and ask if its
absolutely necessary that I get them removed to prevent crowding. I have to symptoms of crowding though. Only pain I experience from them is when I bite down, there is some gum tissue still half-covering the wisdom teeth, resulting in slight pain.

No. removing wisdom teeth that dont have enough room to come in properly doesnt cause the the face to retrude. They need to be removed because the jaw is small but it wont make the jaw smaller. If it did, people would develop malocclusion after, but the bite remains unchanged.

They also need to be removed in 90% of cases for the BSSO and LeFort I path in order to move the jaws forward.

This has been asked hundreds of times.

Why the hell would the chin become recessed lol, the chin is not close to wisdoms. You will not lose bone from removing wisdoms

Research and meta analysis data…it’s very simple.

Google scholar is your friend. People have studied this shit for decades and compiled literally thousands of pages of data on wisdom tooth removal.

Why the fuck are you making major dental decisions based on a random ass 13 year olds reply saying “yeah bro ur cooked if they remove it bro your jaw will literally fall out!!!” :lul::lul::lul::lul:

It is really simple. If you remove healthy teeth without reason, you are retarded. If the doctor tells you they will cause issues, get them removed.

In my case the doctor told me to get them removed just in case, even though they won't cause problems. They do this because of money. My dumbass 15 yo self unfortunately fell for it.

Why would you remove healthy teeth if not needed? Ask your doctor and act accordingly

WROOONG! It only leads to boneloss if your wisdom teeth have enough place and are in occlusion. Otherwise they will most likely cause a dentitio difficilis in which case there wasnt even enough bone to begin with.
If they errupt into occlusion, keep them.
If they dont errupt but cause an inflamation, remove them.

Idk tbh, my jaw has gotten noticeable wider in my later years compared to my friends who mostly stayed the same. Most people get them out in high school but I’m 23 still with them. I’m definitely not a late bloomer either
