If you are talking about the 1901 white Australia policy then no. It only restricted immigration from non-EU countries. but again that was a long time ago things have changed since 2009 we have consistently been chinas biggest trading partner. Before that it was japan.

We again do rely a lot on natural resources.

Due to China having their own issues, demand for our resources have dropped that why our economy is barely getting by at the moment we need China to do well.
