Men who say they "have a type" are doing the gayest thing ever and acting like women to get them basically
But yeah, womens' type is young chad, but the vast majority aren't/weren't able to get him. And this is humiliating in the presence of other young women. So to create enough reasonable doubt for why they're not with the top 1% dude they have to say "I only like older men/brown guys/white guys/fat guys/nerdy skinny tall guys/bbc/guys with tattoos" etc etc. If they were to just date a different peer, it would be an obvious admission of defeat and settling for someone "lesser" because they couldn't get chad. They will go for some older fucked up junkie dude over a perfectly healthy attractive guy their own age for this reason. Their status among other girls is more important than actually connecting with or enjoying the dude in front of them.
