So I was getting barely any shifts at my work (security), and the manager said there were no full time positions available. But now he called me and said there is a position on the other side (the side dealing with post and deliveries, rather than the visitor side which is where I currently work)

So I could potentially get a full time role basically just sorting post as security, and more time doing nothing than currently (where we have to search bags, do metal detectors etc)

The problems are that I wouldn't be working with the people I've gotten to know so far, it's 40-50 hours a week Monday to Friday, and starts at 8 am, and I would have to get up at like 6:15. The website says 50 hours, but my manager said he thinks there is an 8 am - 4 pm shift

It's not ideal. The shift I wanted was 11-7 pm, 4 on 4 off (28 hours every 7 days) at my current side, but apparently that's no longer available, even tho no one else is doing it

So idk if I'm ready to go full time, especially not with early starts. But, at the same time, working full time now while I'm living with parents allows me to save up more

Do you have a job?
My intention is part time work for life, after buying a cheap tiny house. But maybe some full time work first could be worth it to get the funds up

Don't compare yourself to @Petsmart. Being a full time office cuck is easy. Blue collar labor like your job is harder. That being said, take the gig.

Going to sleep early is the harder part
Especially since I hate noises from other people when I'm trying to sleep (even with earplugs) and it takes me like an hour even on my regular schedule

Damn what kind of noises keep you up

My brother literally screams at the top of his lungs while gambling and playing vidya and he STARTS at 8pm as his schedule is atrocious

Earplugs do it for me

People talking
Toilet flushing
Basically anything lol
Also kind of a mental thing where I hate trying to sleep knowing others are still gonna use the bathroom by my room, leave lights on etc. I like a dead atmosphere when trying to sleep

Also sometimes my right ear plug falls out jfl

This has nothing to do with work
It was the same in summer when I was neet
But anyway, my intention is part time work. But full time while living with parents will allow me to save

I'm kind of trolling but not really

Well secured earplugs and an adequately exhausted body is probably enough

You don't sleep like a baby when you're really exhausted? Really :what:

Wtf 1 hour paid break?! Good for you! This is in America?! Is this a union job?

Wtf you guys actually have good working conditions in the UK even for basic jobs

Most security jobs in America are 12hr swing shift with an unpaid 30 and two 10s that are paid. The pay can be as low as $18/hr..

Most the security guards have to order takeout to the shack to actually eat anything and at night you can’t even order takeout

Our wages are lower. Ik US varies a lot though
I'm on £12.60 an hour, which is $17, and fairly common for a lot of entry level jobs. Minimum wage is 12.21 since april, was 11.44 before that

If you can find a unionized security job they usually pay $25/hr

I would say our coat of living is higher but it’s hard to tell.

In rural areas everything is spacious and dirt cheap except for food.
Rural areas are food deserts. If you don’t have the means to farm, hunt, fish, you’ll be scammed by stores charging 5x compared to other places.

Suburban and urban is extremely expensive to live in. We all know that. But you do at least have access to healthy food without having to hunt, farm, fish, raise cattle yourself.

Take it. Money is everything. I am doing an internship too and get paid full-time

Money is nothing past covering your basic needs
I might take it so I can save more for a tiny house
But once that is covered, it will be part time for life
