Worst and best thing to happen to me recently

Basically I haven’t worked in many weeks maybe even a month, and yesterday I was asking my manager for a shift cuz my skin is in shambles and need some tazarotene asap. And he actually gives me the shift but my mum says at the last minute I can’t go for some bs reason about having to focus on studies even tho it’s still the summer holiday, the thing is this exact situation has happened before and it happened to be the shift I was supposed to work before yesterday so i apologised but I think the guy is now sick of my shit and I’m positive he won’t give me any more work

Pros: don’t have to worry about going to work but can’t Ldar since I still have to study

Negatives: I look like a goblin
