My parents always knew I was autistic but they didn't want a diagnosis because they thought it would limit my opportunities.
I can say for sure it wasn't the diagnosis part of autism that negatively affected my life, it's having it.

Thats why you never tell anyone, you keep it under the wraps. Also I'm surprised so many people get diagnosed later on when it's most obvious when ur like 3

parents just don’t want to accept the fact
though in my family high functioning autism is very common
