True but just because a population is related to another doesn’t mean they are the same, aryans were specifically an eastern branch that broke off, and their descendants aren’t European, so why even insist on using the term. Like the cultural aspect of being an “Aryan” didn’t exist in corded ware and bell beakers, so why even use it as a European. Makes things needlessly confusing. I am not responsible for whatever my cousin does, and I don’t get to claim his achievements

Its not something i claim heavily but i believe the connection is still there a lot geneticslly so its more like vague pride for a historicsl offshoot

If Europeans want to praise their ancestors that’s fine I’d just much rather they focus that praise on the groups they very directly descended from. I descend from the proto indo Aryans, those guys are my ancestors, and even though they cluster much closer to Europeans, the land and culture that my ancestors were raised in was heavily influenced by that specific branch who called themselves aryans, the people who composed the rig veda were 1000 years mixed already, I believe some samples show around 40% steppe dna with the rest being Iran HG and SAHG, same thing with Iran HG, I don’t claim the achievements of the Persians because we have some vaguely similar ancestry. I’m into genetics as a hobby, but I think Europeans claiming the achievements of a group of people who specifically integrated into the Indic society and mixed thoroughly is stupidity

I mean its not like europeans are disconnected from them culturally either thi, they have an extremely similar culture to them as well which is why we a lot find them fascinating, i believe it was a welsh linguist in india that intially found out how connected and similar sanskirt was to other european languages

Indo Aryan culture was pretty mixed up with the indigenous ivc culture though, there’s a ton of gods in Hinduism who don’t have any roots in PIE mythology. Sanskrit itself has the retroflex consants unique to proto Dravidian derived languages. There are connections of course but there’s also connections between Korean and Japanese mythology, doesn’t mean one should claim all the achievements of the other is what I’m saying
