Would braces help jaw asymmetry?

The top and bottom teeth on the left side of my mouth are alligned correctly whereas on my right side the bottom teeth sit further into my mouth and don’t align properly with the top teeth. The right side of my jaw is noticeably ‘closer’ to my face and projects much less than my right side - making it look like the right side of my face is sort of missing a bottom jaw compared to the left lmao.

Wondering if normal braces would fix this at all.

I have exactly the same thing as you called. I went to maxfacial surgeon and he told be that he can fix my teeth with braces but face asymmetry won't change. In my case my asymmetry is bone structure problem. To be sure, go to maxfacial surgeon or orthodontist to be 100% sure. If you are young braces might be enough.

I’m 18 but hit puberty lateeeee at like 16 and am still growing etc so maybe there’s hope?? I have a consultation with an orthodontist coming up and I’ll ask him - would lower palate expansion not do anything though or am I going completely down the wrong line

I'm not expert tbh. The only thing I can tell you is to go to professional person ASAP. You already have appoitment so you are on the good route.
