Would I be a good candidate for a Bimax Surgery?

I originally was considering a genioplasty/mini-chin wing to fix my recessed chin/lower third but after doing some x-rays and tests including an orthodontic evaluation I found out my maxilla is also recessed and I have a pretty decent overbite. I was diagnosed with a class 1 malocclusion.

My key measurements are:

• Overjet: 7.2 mm
• Overbite: 4.3 mm
• Gonial angle: 109.1°
• SNA 80.2°
• Maxilla is recessed by about 5.3mm

It sucks because I'm going to have to do orthodontics for about a year before surgery but definitely the right move long term, I was curious as to what your thoughts were and if this is the right move for me.

One thing I forgot to mention was that both my lips are pretty sunken in, at least that's what the orthodontic study said so I feel like I could at least get a mild aesthetic improvement from a Bimax, and at least make my side profile/jawline look better.

Forgot to add that If I do end up doing a Bimax I would also end up pairing it with a Genioplasty so a Trimax is what I would end up doing.

I am fairly confident that a bimax would not live up to your expectations in terms of aesthetics.

In regard to your "candidate" question, it comes down to whether or not you have an actual functional problem in order to be approved by insurance. Measurements are only one part of it.

In the scenario where you do get approved by insurance, you wouldn't have to worry about the cost of the procedure itself, however, there are a handful of other factors that you still need to pay for that wouldn't make the surgery worth going through with (orthodontics, surgeon fees etc).

On top of that, you would gain very little aesthetic benefit as you are only diagnosed with a class 1 malocclusion. The genioplasty would not even be in the picture if you are not approved by insurance so don't get ahead of yourself.

I'm planning on paying out of pocket for it either in Europe or Mexico. Genioplasty would be an added benefit for my profile. I know I only have a class 1 which is mild. But it seems from my measurements that my maxilla is decently recessed. Also my orthodontic study said my lips are very recessed, especially the upper lip. I think a Bimax at least by moving up my maxilla would correct that aspect at least. Also my overbite has been something I've dealt with for a long time and I've been told by many dentists that I grind my teeth so that could also be fixed at least.
