5'6 but im still growing so might hit 5'7. Was severely malnourished tho so hopefully my son can reach 5'9

If you are 160-170cm, yes you should.
A 10 centimeters height gap is perfect, since any child will grow taller than the mom or the dad, depending on the sex.

I think it's fair and logical to have a 10cm height gap, since the height difference between mean height in women and men is about 10cm (F164cm, M175cm in France for example).

Nothing inherently wrong with having a larger height difference though
