I think if it would be completely anonymous then it would be a completely different forum. No more complaining about boring threads since everyone would be anonymous and wreck havoc. But I don't think people want to have that conversation

I do not want to discuss this og nonsense. If you actually think about it anyone pre 2023 who posts this continuously is a very intelligent rep farmer. As for your other points I agree. I just think, that a high rep user can post some bullshit and will still get views and admiration but a low rep user wont get any attention even if he posts some high quality stuff. I dont mean og in the sense of "hes been here for 4y" Some guys have a lot of rep and simply put other users down thinking theyre old school, which makes it seem like a lot of reps is synonymous with something all that is needed is to interact on the site and make "friends" so maybe someday I'll post an autist thread and someone will react to it

Yeah that happens a lot too. I don't know in a lot of cases rep does really make a lot difference in whether a thread will have quality or not. I have chatted with only one fellow once and it was good according to me. On the other I have been in threads with multiple high rep users and you can kind of understand why they amassed so much rep.

It is a necessary requirement, so its absence would be a bad thing. But the forum could take certain topics and discussions more seriously. u need to accumulate posts/reps and friendships to have the freedom to post something

My perception is that if the rep system would to be removed then it would have to accompany anonymising all the accounts. But that cannot happen now, since almost all active users know each other more than their own family
