I wouldn't 1 billion is just too much. Also the question is hopelessly too vague. The consequences will depend on all sorts of things, If it was because say China or India were wiped out by an asteroid, that would be one thing. If it was because of a war or epidemic, that would be another. If it were say 1 billion of the poorest people dying because of a suicidal craze, the effect might be quite modest and fleeting. If they were all babies little to no consequences but Rich people going away would crash the economy etc. Whatever it is I don't think I would press the button knowing full well that I would cause the death of 1 billion innocent lives. Maybe if tht number was low and the only people being wiped out were my enemies
