It depends on the bird tbh. Intelligence matters morally, and that is already how humans value life. We value human lives more because of higher cognition like awareness, communication, and planning. Science shows squirrels are smarter than pigeons since they use strong spatial memory and problem solving to survive. So in that case I would pick the squirrel. But crows are different. Studies show they use tools, recognize human faces, plan ahead, and understand cause and effect. Their brains also have very high neuron density, similar to some primates. Because of that, tbh choosing a crow over a squirrel makes more sense morally.
