Would you visit Japan/Korea or Dubai/surrounding areas? Need advice.

• Assuming a departure date of 2024 or the first half of 2025
• We obviously won't travel during summer or winter
• I'd like to visit Japan but the girl I'm seeing (I am in talks with her family about potentially marrying her) would rather visit the UAE and surrounding countries.
• Before finalising the decision and booking we need to talk about this trip as two whole families and vote unanimously.
• Mum said "she would sit out trips to countries where she cannot see development and technology she can learn more from". In other words, she said she would sit out a trip to Japan but not to Dubai because she doesn't want to "walk about aimlessly".
• If we choose to visit Japan we cannot travel through GCC areas (e.g. Dubai, Doha) for personal reasons.
• If we choose to visit Dubai we can't take direct flights or flights from the UK to a city in a GCC state.
• We don't want to overspend as I'm keeping an eye on budgeting but I don't want to go on the cheap either.
• I'm thinking of a 2-week visit, maximum 3.

Dubai is just like one big resort. there is nothing to do if u r not willing to spend money.

Korea/Japan has actual history and cool places to see.

depends on u family interests at the end of the day. if u want ur mom to come along i guess go to dubai or abu dhabi and relax like a resort for 2 weeks

I currently don’t have plans to visit the Middle East but if I would I’d go to places like Sanaa in Yemen, Yerusalem, the Dead Sea, Beyrut, the old town of Damascus, Petra in Jordan etc.

I have been practicing my Hebrew as well and it would be wonderful to see all the places mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, the Torah, The Quran, all of them in person, in real life -- The main places in Jerusalem, The dead sea, the Negev (desert in Israel), Bethlehem, not to mention, the old port of Jaffa, just to name a few.

It has real meaning to actually visit these places with such rich histories and embrace the atmosphere there.
I would rather be in such comfort than to be in shallow places like Dubai that mean nothing.
