A soldier acts out of orders and necessity. You really think a German, fit young man was asked whether he would like to serve or not? Of course there were those blood thirsty murderers, but they were specifically selected to certain divisions, which were sent to the eastern front. It could easily be that those guys stationed in Netherlands never even killed anybody.
