Yeah I think at Loos 1915 the British attempted to use gas but the wind pushed it back into their own trenches and caused many casualties

They spent a long time hunting for it and eventually some British ships found it and damaged it so over the course of a few days they chased it down and eventually they ganged up on it and sunk it
